Wow! What a surprise. If you are looking for fine dining please pass. If you are looking for great bar food and awesome music in a mellow atmosphere. Please come!! This place has both + good service in spades. If you are a wine drinker, their wine by the glass is lacking. But their bottles are great AND are cheap and they will cork for you to take home. Excellent place. The musical talent on weekends is worth the stop.

This is one of the dirtiest places to eat in town! I don't think it has had a good cleaning in 15 years. Have tried it 2 times and will not go back. Service is horrible here! For breakfast, the waitress was probably there from the day the doors open and was just rude. Screamed across the room at another server who was going to take my bill to the register "She can just wait until I take it up!" Maybe 4 tables with customers in the whole place. I just wasn't sure if we take the bill up or the server does so I asked. Dinner was dried out pork chops with a half rotten bake potato. While this can happen anywhere the problem was, by the time the server came back to the table, everyone else was done with their dinner and we were ready to leave. I give a place 3 times but because the front of the place is so dirty, I am afraid of what the kitchen looks like.

Katie in bar area is great, no matter how busy service is always great and her attitude is always welcoming and friendly. Atmosphere is comfortable, food and prices good

Downtown Lake Orion- I had lunch here with a friend and her mother, and we enjoyed the experience. The food was above average for what I had expected, although the German tomato soup wasn't exactly what I pictured for tomato soup. It was more like goulash, which I guess makes sense. They have an awesome wall of box and loose leaf teas near the back but the super friendly waitress looked a bit baffled when I asked for a tea ball or a way to steep the loose tea. I guess no one drinks the loose tea? We ended up doing a makeshift tea bag out of a coffee filter which worked well enough.

CJ's is open on Sunday despite Yelp's suggestion that it wasn't. We decided to go for breakfast after previously grabbing a take out menu and seeing their very reasonable prices. Parking in downtown Lake Orion is atrocious as most parking spots are reserved for specific businesses. You have to drive around luck out on a random curbside spot. CJ's was busy and we got a seat after a 15 minute wait. A nice window-side seat. We quickly gave our order and waited about 40ish minutes for our order. Understandable given the busy restaurant. We both got a Belgian waffle (on the menu, it's "waffles" but you only get 1). It was a standard waffle with no redeemable qualities. The biscuits and gravy were good. The biscuits were fresh and flaky. A cup of gravy was more than enough. I think this place is too small to handle its overwhelming fan base and can't keep up.

Good local bar. When you don't want to fight the crowd at Sagebrush or if 51 North Brewery isn't for you, this place is perfect. Live music is always fun too.

This is our favorite spot in Lake Orion for breakfast. Love it here. Great omelets and coffee. The wait staff are awesome.

Not a weekend passes that we don't enjoy a breakfast here! CJ's might as well be called the Cheers of Lake Orion. I cannot recall ever a bad meal. On one occasion I ordered the breakfast burrito and wanted to swap the meat (bacon not sausage) they missed this request - the waitress was apologetic and the food was still delicious! Undoubtedly the most popular breakfast place in this town come prepared to wait.

Lots of great breakfast options. Omlets are huge and fabulous. The pineapple upside down pancakes and real fruit raspberry pancakes are great. The German potatoes are worth the upgrade but get it extra crispy!

Best breakfast in town! Try a corned beef hash omelette or the CJ's Special...you can't go wrong. The decor and ambiance is small town and the staff is friendly. Reasonably priced and right down town.

This is our local hangout. Bartenders are awesome at night. Restaurant staff and cooks are awesome for breakfast.

Great place to go for breakfast.. They treat you like family..

It used to be great but since they expanded, the kitchen can't keep up on high demand days. Food can take over 30 minutes to come out which is a long time for breakfast. The food is good but not worth the wait.

We have been to CJ's many times for breakfast. I have been there for lunch maybe once or twice. CJ's is a diner that is in a very old building. The floors are slanted and the ceiling is tin. It is very loud and every time we have been there for breakfast it is very busy. The breakfast is always good. The portions are large, and the bacon is crispy (I don't like bacon unless it is really crispy). The weekday specials are a good deal. We have always had good service - I have never had to ask for a coffee refill. I must say that I can't remember much about the lunch I had there - which means it wasn't bad, just not great. We will be back for more of that bacon (after all, everything's better with bacon!)

When my daughter suggested CJ's for Salad, I was skeptical. It looked more like a place for a bar burger or chili cheese fries. To my delight the food was fresh and crisp. I really enjoyed it. I have not gone back in a while but I am thinking that a CJs salad sounds good.

This spot is quintessential locals only spot. Great breakfasts, wonderful hash browns cook just right, golden and crispy. Our favorite is the corn beef hash omelette, it's delicious. On the weekends you need to come early because it fills up and there's a line out the door.

Great mushroom soup and a superb chicken salad sandwich! We will definitely be back.

Ok...CJ's started as a breakfast place and evolved into a restaurant. I have only eaten breakfast at CJs and from that aspect it is my favorite breakfast place eating there about 4 times a month on weekends. Great food, decent variety. Seating is usually pretty quick as the wait staff and the cooks keep the food rolling. Wait staff is very attentive and nice.

CJ's is busy, loud, and great if you want breakfast late in the day! I have partaken in their breakfast on 3 different occations. The staff is kind, but my coffee cup wasn't always full (and it bugs me when I have to ask for a coffee refill)The coffee is good though (not the BEST... just good) ... ohhhh and the OJ is NOT freshly squeezed, which in my opinion makes it not worth ordering. Hash browns are good, panacakes are good, fried eggs are not always cooked consistently to order (i.e. my over medium eggs were VERY runny!) So ask for your eggs scrambled, order an omelette or panacakes and coffee, but skip the OJ and you're in for a hardy meal at a good price!

If every town in America had a breakfast spot like CJ's, everyone would be better off. Nothing fancy (at all) about CJ's, just a nice spot in downtown Lake Orion to grab breakfast or lunch. Have a wide variety of omelettes which are HUGE and also delicious. I've had several, but the "greek omelette" that I had today might be my favorite one yet. They also put together a decent biscuits and gravy. I typically go to CJ's on Sunday morning (about 11ish) with my girlfriend and her family, and it's typically pretty crowded--but with extra seating in the bar, the wait is typically not long. I noticed a previous review mention the "family atmosphere" at CJs and I'd have to agree. Friendly servers and "home-cooked" style food give you exactly that.

I like to go here for breakfast. They have a full menu and a bar. But for me the breakfast is what it is all about. Nice small home town atmosphere.

The best made omelettes in town. This old charming breakfast spot serves great home made eggs any way you like. Located in the downtown area of Lake Orion in the historic buildings you can always get great service and fantastic brunch items anytime of the day. Filled with great vintage photos of the area this really is the best Michigan has to offer.

CJ's has always been great. Every time we visit Lake Orion, we go. Yesterday was easily the best experience ever. The food was good, but it was the amazing customer service that really got my attention! Our waitress made us feel like family, informal but not overly so, and always predicting just what we needed. For food, I had the Atlantic Cod. Delicious! Not low-fat, but extremely good. I ordered it with hash browns and shouldn't have. They were okay, but mostly didn't go with the fish that well. My wife the Green's Park salad and it was VERY good. Walnuts, mandarin oranges, craisins, and feta on spinach. It was very fresh and delicious. The kids had a hot dog (standard but good) and the kids' fish (basically the same size as my order of cod, but just one giant piece, also delicious). Grilled cheese was classic and good. By the way, bathrooms were very clean, which is nice. We found out that on Mondays and Tuesdays, kids eat free with an adult entree (a dinner entree) or a large salad, so that was a good deal too! Overall, we had four adults and two kids eat for a little over $30!

What a great place! I stopped in for breakfast the other day. My first time, and the hostess greeted me like I was a regular. Fellow Yelpers have talked about the homey feel of this place, and I must agree. The coffee is great. I ordered blueberry pancakes and a side of sausage. Three very large pancakes loaded with fresh blueberries--not the frozen/pie filling sort of stuff that some places give you. Cooked perfectly, and tasted great. The link sausage was tasty and a nice sized serving. How do you describe sausage links w/o sounding like a perv?! I mean, this wasn't the shriveled up/overly spiced sort of links that some places serve ;o) . My companion got pancakes, potatoes, sausage and poached eggs. Everything cooked to perfection. Service was quick. The place looked clean. Next time I'm in Lake Orion, I'll be back for more.

This place is dirty and watching the help confirmed why. Yes, including a waitstaff not washing hands in the bathroom. Carrying a filthy broom over the shoulder through the dining area. You can imagine this dirty thing waving in the air over a table. Washing a table meant flicking the visible crumbs to the floor. I saw all of this in about 45 minutes yesterday. I will not be back.

Yum! Food is always cooked to order and delicious!

We have been going to C J's for years and enjoyed the relaxed small town eatery for breakfast. No more! They now have expanded around the corner and have basically two restaurants operating at once, adding a liquor license to both. The breakfast atmosphere at the original restaurant is now hectic, rushed, loud, service is slower and less friendly and the portions are much smaller. The prices on the menu do not match what appears on the bill. The bill is of course higher. We have been disappointed the last two visits and will sadly not be going back.

This place offers some of the best food in town. You can get some really good sandwiches. Breakfast is damn good. Been going here for over ten years and have never been disappointed.
